The Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov on may 23 met with the First Deputy Chairman of the State Council and the Council of Ministers of Cuba Miguel Mario Diaz-Kanel Bermudez.

The head of Government noted that relations between Belarus and Cuba have stood the test of time and today have a high level of mutual trust and respect. "We are proud to call them brats," he stressed. – Your decision to visit Belarus is a testimony to the great interest of the Republic of Cuba in the further development of our bilateral relations. We perceive this step as a manifestation of sincere affection to the Belarusian people".

The Prime Minister stated that cooperation between Belarus and Cuba has a strong Foundation. "We have reached a high level of strategic partnership, which can serve as a good example for other countries, he said. "The two countries have established political, legal and economic framework of bilateral cooperation, signed and implemented more than 30 international treaties".

The trade turnover between Belarus and Cuba has been growing steadily, stressed Andrei Kobyakov. The volume of bilateral trade in 2015 amounted to 67 million dollars and grew more than 1.5 times compared to 2014. "At the same time important is a balanced bilateral trade, - said the Prime Minister. For example, we exported to Cuba the Belarusian products at 36 million dollars. USA, in turn, our Cuban partners put to Belarus of goods at 31 million dollars last year."

In the first quarter of 2016, the Belarusian exports is inferior to the volume purchased of products in Cuba, noted Andrei Kobyakov. "That is why we offer you today to discuss ways and means of correcting this situation," he suggested.

The head of Government also reminded that in the implementation stage a number of mutually beneficial economic projects. For example, at one of the companies in Santiago de Cuba mounted Assembly line of cabins for MAZ. The possibility of joint Assembly of agricultural machinery "Belagromash" at one of the factories in the city of Holguin. Also, MAZ and MTZ are considering opening their offices in Cuba.

"We look forward to the implementation of the signed in the January 2016 contract on the supply of kits for machinery MTZ, and also signed in April 2016 contract for the supply of MAZ," - said Andrei Kobyakov.

In addition, preparing for the signing of contracts, which involve exports to Cuba machinery JSC Stankogomel", "Belagromash", MTZ, Minsk motor plant.

Close political and trading-economic interaction of the countries is supplemented by a dynamically developing cooperation in scientific-technical, cultural, educational and humanitarian spheres. In particular, created and operates the joint Belarusian-Cuban Commission for cooperation in science and technology. "In the framework of its work Belarus has offered the project of the concept of creation in Cuba of the Park of high technologies, - noted Andrei Kobyakov. - Belarus is ready to assist in the creation of modern telecommunication and computer systems. I propose to discuss these areas of our future cooperation".

Andrei Kobyakov added that the economic situation is changing nowadays. "Both Belarus and Cuba has been subjected to the influence of adverse external conditions, - he stated. – I believe that to overcome the negative trends of world globalization will become much easier together."

"Relations between our countries are open and sincere nature, therefore calls during the exchange of views to draw attention to problematic points, - concluded the Prime Minister. – I'm sure your visit will give additional powerful impetus to the development of the Belarusian-Cuban cooperation".

In turn, Miguel Mario Diaz-Kanel Bermudez thanked for the opportunity to visit Belarus and hold important meetings with the leadership of the country. "We are satisfied with visit to Belarus, a country with which we have strong bonds of friendship," he said.
