The government has approved the state program “Physical Education and Sports” for 2026-2030. The corresponding resolution was signed by Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin.
The program consists of two subprograms: Active Lifestyle (aimed at developing physical education) and Training of Sports Reserve and High-Class Athletes (aimed at developing sports). The total funding for the state program amounts to Br8.43 billion.
What is the expected resulting effect by 2030? The share of people engaged in physical education and sports is expected to reach 35% of the total population. A number of other targets have also been set. Belarus is expected to place no lower than 4th in the overall team ranking in multi-discipline international sports events (CIS Games, BRICS Games). The rate of utilization of sports facilities (by attendance and by usage time) is forecast to reach 89.6% and 92.3%, respectively. The number of individuals to pass the GTO test will be at least 64,500 people. The number of fitness and health groups established for individuals with disabilities and physically weakened persons in sports organizations will be at least 100.
At least 31 new fitness centers, multifunctional complexes, and swimming pools will be built. The percentage of agro-towns equipped with comprehensive sports grounds will be at least 30%. Team Belarus is expected to win at least 300 medals (gold, silver, bronze) at the Olympic Games, world and European championships, cups, and championships in Olympic disciplines.
At least 3,800 athletes are forecast to meet the qualification standards for the sports titles of “Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Belarus” and “Master of Sports of the Republic of Belarus”.
