Belarus has approved a state program to bolster mineral resource security. The relevant resolution was signed by Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin.
Its goal is to develop the mineral resource base as a foundation for the nation’s economic security. The program aims to boost geological exploration of the country’s territory, replenish and expand the mineral resource base, and improve the efficiency of mineral resource use. In particular, the state program sets a key target for the share of the country’s territory covered by new-generation 1:200,000-scale geological maps: to reach 60% by 2030, up from 42% in 2025.
The funding volume for the state program is Br276 million, including Br273.3 million from the national budget and Br2.7 million from organizations’ own funds.
